During fall spring break our student groups serve in north carolina across the united states and around the world. Students have many options when looking for ways to contribute during breaks from school. Each trip varies but there are some basic themes. Teams sponsored by leadership and civic engagement and other campus partners focus on water quality and sanitation affordable housing youth education and empowerment medical clinics lgbtq and civil rights and environmental.

Each trip focuses on a particular social issue such as but not limited to poverty education reform refugee resettlement and the environment. Deciding to take an alternative spring break trip and volunteer abroad is a no brainer. During the day you will perform around 6 hours of service and evening activities can include speakers visits to local. The mission of alternative spring break at the university of virginia is to bring together members of the university of virginia in the common goals of charitable service to and education about the global community in order to promote and train future service leaders.
